Updated on
bests.one has no accounts, no sign-up forms, no ads and no newsletter. We measure visits with Google Analytics 4, our host Cloudflare adds its Web Analytics script, and YouTube players load only when you press play. That is all the tracking on this site.
Google Analytics 4
- We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-G1WJQG4DYD) to count visits and see which pages and links people use. - It loads only on bests.one itself, not on preview copies of the site. It also waits: it starts after your first scroll, tap, click or key press, or about three seconds after the page finishes loading.
- It sets two first-party cookies,
_gaand_ga_<ID>. Google says the first distinguishes users and the second keeps session state, and both last two years by default (Google Analytics cookie usage). - We also count a few named clicks as Analytics events, such as links to our YouTube channel and “Add to Grok” buttons. The event records which link was clicked; it does not include your name, email or any account details.
- Google handles this data under the Google Privacy Policy. To opt out on every site, you can use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare adds its Web Analytics script, which counts page views and measures how fast pages load. Cloudflare says Web Analytics “does not collect or use your visitors’ personal data” and does not log query strings (about Web Analytics, FAQ). Like any host, Cloudflare also handles the network requests that deliver these pages (Cloudflare privacy policy).
YouTube videos
Some pages may embed our YouTube videos. Before you press play, no YouTube player or YouTube script loads; you see a still preview image, which may come from YouTube’s image server (i.ytimg.com). When you press play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and from then on Google’s privacy policy applies to the video. Links to our YouTube channel are ordinary links.
Nothing else
- No ad networks, no social media pixels, no session recording.
- The site’s own code does not set cookies or use local storage.
- Links to other sites, such as x.ai, GitHub, Medium and YouTube, take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
