Grok Bot template safety checklist

Short answer: Grok Bot templates are made by other users, and the official guide says to evaluate them like software. Before adding one, read its description, skills, routines and integrations. After adding it, require approval for sending, publishing, deleting and buying, and type passwords and codes yourself. Every point below comes from xAI’s own documentation.

Why check at all

Before you add it: four checks

  1. Creator and source. Make sure the link is an official x.ai/bot/… address and see who made it. Every template page on Bests.one lists the author and a verified date; start from all templates. For choosing in the first place, see how to choose a template.
  2. Description and skills. The preview shows the Bot’s identity, description, skills and routines (docs). Read each one and look for anything unrelated to the job.
  3. Routines. Routines tell a Bot when to run on its own (FAQ). Check how often it runs and what it does.
  4. Integrations. On the in-app review screen, check the context and integrations, then click Add Bot only if they match what you expect (x.ai guide). Full steps: how to add a template.

After you add it: set limits

Cleaning up

When you’re done with a Bot, the docs suggest pausing or deleting related routines, signing out of websites on the computer, uninstalling plugins and revoking them in the source service, and removing sensitive files from /workspace. Deleting a Bot does not remove computer files or browser sessions (security docs).

When you share your own

Remove API keys, internal URLs, customer data and anything you wouldn’t put in a public document (docs). Steps: how to share a template.

FAQ

Does a template give me the creator’s account or data?

No. Adding a shared Bot creates a copy on your account; you don’t get the creator’s computer, logins or conversation history.

Is Auto-review enough on its own?

No. The docs say it doesn’t review every side effect, such as memory writes and most settings changes, and should be used alongside explicit limits and least privilege.

Can separate Bots isolate risk?

No. The computer is assigned per user, not per Bot, so the FAQ says not to use separate Bots as a security boundary.
