Grok Bot vs Claude Duet: two personal agents, from the official docs

Updated on

Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet on October 21, 2026, and many people on X now ask how it compares with Grok Bot. This Grok Bot vs Claude Duet page puts the two side by side using only what xAI and Anthropic have published.

We have not used Claude Duet yet, and we have not run the two on the same job. This page has no winner. It shows the facts you need to decide for yourself.

The short version

Both are personal agents that keep working while you are away. They work in the cloud, reach your apps, and ask before risky steps. The differences are about who can get in today, where you use them, and what they let the agent do.

Grok Bot is xAI's product for Bots that finish work on a persistent cloud computer. You give each Bot one job, and Bots can hand work to each other. Routines run work on a schedule. More on it in what is Grok Bot.

Claude Duet is Anthropic's new app where Claude acts as one proactive agent. It sends a short brief each morning and checks your connected apps every few hours. It messages you only when something needs you. Anthropic says it is built around Claude Opus 5.5 and is aimed at professionals and small business owners.

How to choose

These questions decide it better than a ranking would.

If you use Claude Code for coding, that is a different product. See Grok Bot vs Claude Code for stock research for that comparison.

FAQ

Is Claude Duet the same as Claude Code?

No. Claude Code is Anthropic's coding tool for the terminal, IDEs, desktop and browser. Claude Duet is a separate app where Claude works as a proactive personal agent across your connected apps. It is in research preview.

Who can use Claude Duet right now?

Anthropic says it is an early research preview with a waitlist, starting with Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet. It is included in Pro and Max and shares their usage limits.

Can either one use my passwords?

Grok Bot announced a 1Password integration on October 22, 2026: you approve which logins to share and the Bot signs in, rolling out over a few days. Anthropic lists 1Password sign-in for Claude Duet as coming soon and says Duet never directly sees passwords or sign-in tokens.

Can they touch my money?

Differently. The @grok account says Grok Bot connects to bank, card and investment accounts through Plaid with read-only access. Anthropic says Claude Duet can pay through Link or Shop Pay after you approve, and blocks trading securities or moving money between accounts even with approval.

Which one is better?

We don't know. We have not tested Claude Duet or run both on the same job, so we will not name one. Use the questions under How to choose.
